The airline world has been rocked recently with multiple carriers going out of business and the super merger between Delta Air and Northwest Airlines. Well, there seems to be another mega merger on the horizon between American Airlines and US Airways. The merger is still in the infancy but an alliance between American and Continental Airlines near closing. To put this airline move in perspective American Airlines is the world’s largest carrier. If US Airways or Continental close their deal you as the traveler can expect cheap air fares to roll in the change. Continental is already known for great service matched with budget air fares so keep your eyes peeled on this news and the prices offered on these carriers websites.
The CEO of Continental made it clear that as a carrier they feel that partnerships or alliances are the only options considered for the future. So don’t expect Continental to be taking over any carriers in the near future. An alliance could mean that the two carriers would work together to offer less cheap airfare tickets but don’t expect this.
